~Poetry Slam Reflection~
Honestly, I was a little excited for the poetry slam. I was excited to listen to the poems of my fellow peers. At first I got kind of nervous at the thought of going up to the front of the class and presenting my poem, but once a few people went up and read theirs, I felt a bit more comfortable. I knew that there was no right or wrong when it came to poetry so I shouldn't have to worry about presenting. Everyone in class was having fun and was being very supportive of each other. That made me more confident and comfortable when I wet up to present my poem. Overall, I think that everyone that went up to present did really well, and I'm glad I got to experience my first poetry slam.

~Free Verse Poems~
The leaves of Autumn.
Swish, whoosh, crunch.
Fantastically, frolicking, falling
Upon the ground.
All these leaves
Could cover the face of the Earth.
The leaves of Autumn.
My brother also wrote one with me because I couldn't think of one and I needed help. This one doesn't have much of the poetic elements, but it was fun writing it.
She walks alone
Down the street.
Where will she go?
Nobody knows.
She walks alone,
Her mind not here.
The dread that follows her
Won't disappear.
She walks alone,
Still reminded of the past.
Wounds inflicted upon her
The memories come flooding back.
She walks alone,
Trying to fight the monsters
That are trying, trying
To get back at her
She walks alone
With a struggling mind
She bumps into him.
He turns around
And says,
Hi.
She walks with him,
Releasing what
She was holding back.
He listens.
They walk together,
The past put behind her.
She has found the light.
Swish, whoosh, crunch.
Fantastically, frolicking, falling
Upon the ground.
All these leaves
Could cover the face of the Earth.
The leaves of Autumn.

~My Tutoring Experience~
Today was a really fun day. When I first found out that we were tutoring at the special ed class, I was actually pretty excited. I really enjoy working with kids, considering that I have two younger siblings. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but I was hoping to have a lot of fun.
When we first went in and picked a group, I went to a group with a girl named Gloria. Eventually we went to wash the little things they used for baking. While we were washing, I actually got to talk to her and we had a lot of fun. She told me things about herself and I told her things about myself. It was really great getting to talk to her and getting to know her better.
After this experience, I can say that I really appreciate the people at our school who work with these kids everyday. They do so much and get paid so little. I can tell that they really enjoy their jobs and they care about these kids. I am also very glad that I got to make new friends and I hope that we do an activity like this again.

~Bullying~
Making the Bus Monitor Cry
I came across this video a few years back, and I was shocked to say the least. I didn't know that people could be so cruel. Bullying can come in any size and it can happen to anyone. Hopefully, everyone who sees this video realizes that bullying is not something to be taken lightly.

Blog Post #6
One New Years resolution I have this year is to eat healthier. I will try to exercise more and to eat less sweets and junk food. Another resolution I have is to try to be more social and to participate more in school activities.
Some second semester goals I have are to pay more attention in my classes and to get to know my classmates better. I will work on doing all my work to the best of my abilities. Hopefully, I will keep up with my resolutions and follow through with them. I wish you the best of luck for your resolutions amd goals as well!

Question of the Day 12/12/13
What is an allegory? An allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one. An allegory is a powerful way to express and idea because it gives the theme or idea a deeper meaning. It gives the reader a different outlook or perspective to the theme. It may also make it easier for the reader to understand the moral or meaning. For example, in Animal Farm, George Orwell uses the power of an allegory to talk about the Communist Russia. He writes the book about the main problems without actually talking about it directly. Personally, I believe this makes it easier for the reader to understand what is going on, or to understand what the author is trying to tell us. It brings the topic into another light. These factors give allegories their literary power.
